  • How to set commitment levels and timeframes for each of the Now, Next and Later horizons
  • How to manage a portfolio using continuous (12-month) rolling-wave planning

Governance for rapidly changing portfolio priorities and outcomes

  • How to adapt governance to take an "approve-first" approach to new initiatives
  • How to triage new initiatives to rapidly ascertain if they represent high value or not
  • Choosing whether to start Discovery early or not, or whether to discard initiatives because of low value

Visualise the pipeline of work for an executive audience

  • How to report the progress of the portfolio to senior leaders
  • How to make the discussion about value and outcomes, and not scope completed or outputs achieved

Module 3: How to manage capacity and adaptability at the team level

Organise long-standing teams around domains / value streams

  • How to rapidly assess team capacity based upon historical data.  Use Lead Time to measure capacity without having to estimate
  • How to ensure that work fits into the Now horizon and maintain a predictable schedule
  • How to continuously adjust workload within each horizon based upon capacity

Adapt plans and workstreams while still delivering value

Learning outcomes:

  • Create adaptable plans that allow for change to occur, while still delivering value.
  • Create adaptable plans by helping teamsm to manage changing dependencies, priorities and timelines together.  Learn how to use Big Room Planning and Scrum of Scrums to coordinate teams at scale.
