Module 1: How to define a value framework
Develop a framework for defining and measuring value
Learning outcomes:
- How to measure benefits, both numerically and experience-based
- Construct a framework for measuring the value of all work items
Capture value/benefits for all new initiatives
Learning outcomes:
- How to capture expected benefits over short, medium and long term
- How to make it easy to capture this information
- How to use this information to prioritise work

Retrospectively apply framework
Learning outcomes:
- Retrofit historical projects and initiatives into the framework as a way of comparing value and effort to new projects
- Explain to stakeholders how they are expected to use the framework for best results
Module 2: How to break down and prioritise work by value
Splitting projects to optimise for value delivery
Learning outcomes:
- Understand how to reduce scope through continuous breaking down and refinement of deliverables
- Help stakeholders to appreciate that priority of value can be determined through supporting data
- How to change priorities when there is a diminishing return on effort

Break down User Stories by value to deliver more value
Learning outcomes:
- How to split Epics and User Stories along different aspects to identify the most value
- Help Product Owners choose more valuable User Stories
- Deprioritise low value work and clear out backlogs. Reduce inventory waste

Diminishing returns on deliverables and when to pivot
Learning outcomes:
- Understand how diminishing returns affects your portfolio of work
- Explain the importance of rejecting low-value work to increase returns
- Set the expectation that projects will be cut-off once they deliver sub-par value
Module 3: How to measure outcomes and impacts to increase value
Understand outputs, outcomes and impact metrics
Learning outcomes:
- Explain the 3 different categories and what they measure and how they relate to each other
- Give working examples of each category
- Explain why measuring outcomes and impacts is more valuable/meaningful
- Explain how team performance should be measured by outcomes and not outputs

Use Impact Mapping to define outcomes and deliverables
Learning outcomes:
- Define the goal or objective for a project or large piece of work
- Decide what outcomes or changes will be made as a result of the work
- Define the deliverables that will best achieve those outcomes, and prioritise them according to their impact
Measuring productivity as a measure of value delivered
Learning outcomes:
- How to measure productivity in terms of value delivered
- How to increase productivity by increasing the amount of value delivered
- How to think about optimising value delivery for a team or group of teams
